As a graduate of WPS, education has been the great equalizer. Anthony now wants to give back and help strategize and plan for the future of the district. Having a seat at the table, he wants to help eliminate barriers and stereotypes and show the true abilities that our students are capable of. As a husband and father of 3, one with Down syndrome. He tends to find that some people focus on the (dis)ability instead of the abilities that we can all achieve. Anthony strives to promote an inclusive community that embraces and enhances equity and inclusion in all aspects of education.

Como graduado de WPS, la educación ha sido el gran ecualizador. Anthony ahora quiere retribuir y ayudar a elaborar estrategias y planificar el futuro del distrito. Sentado en la mesa, quiere ayudar a eliminar barreras y estereotipos y mostrar las verdaderas habilidades de las que son capaces nuestros alumnos. Como esposo y padre de 3, uno con síndrome de Down. Él tiende a encontrar que algunas personas se enfocan en la (dis)capacidad en lugar de las capacidades que todos podemos lograr. Anthony se esfuerza por promover una comunidad inclusiva que adopte y mejore la equidad y la inclusión en todos los aspectos de la educación.


Brenda is a long time resident of the WPS area. Brenda is a successful, bilingual, Latina business owner. She has lived most of her life in Colorado and has considered WPS home for the past 8 years. 2 of her 4 children attend school inside WPS along with many family members enrolled throughout the district. Brenda plans to use the power of the school board to address serious issues like Student Behavior/Bullying. She believes addressing this problem and also engaging the students and families will help improve overall student performance.

Brenda es residente desde hace mucho tiempo del área de WPS. Brenda es una exitosa empresaria latina bilingüe. Ha vivido la mayor parte de su vida en Colorado y ha considerado a WPS como su hogar durante los últimos 8 años. 2 de sus 4 hijos asisten a la escuela dentro de WPS junto con muchos miembros de la familia matriculados en todo el distrito. Brenda planea usar el poder de la junta escolar para abordar problemas serios como el comportamiento de los estudiantes/la intimidación. Ella cree que abordar este problema y también involucrar a los estudiantes y las familias ayudará a mejorar el rendimiento general de los estudiantes.

Gallegos

Charles has spent the vast majority of his life near the educational arena. Starting his journey in WPS, he went on to earn a double bachelor's degree which he then used to obtain further training in nuclear power with the US Navy before moving on to receive his Doctor of Optometry degree where he continues to practice medical optometry.


Charles has many family members enrolled at various schools inside WPS (including 2 of his 4 children) from elementary to the high school level, so he has a personal interest in seeing that this district is adequately preparing ALL students for life after graduation!

Charles ha pasado la mayor parte de su vida cerca del ámbito educativo. Comenzando su viaje en WPS, obtuvo una doble licenciatura que luego usó para obtener más capacitación en energía nuclear con el US Navy antes de continuar para recibir su título de Doctor en Optometría, donde continúa practicando la optometría médica.


Charles tiene muchos miembros de la familia inscritos en varias escuelas dentro de WPS (incluidos 2 de sus 4 hijos) desde el nivel primario hasta el secundario, por lo que tiene un interés personal en ver que este distrito esté preparando adecuadamente a TODOS los estudiantes para la vida después de la graduación.

  • Lack of acknowledgement for the challenges we face as a district

  • Continue to approve multi-million dollar contracts that are a conflict of interest for current and former board members
